The School of Management (SOM) at National Central University was founded in 1984. Currently it has 4 undergraduate programs leading to BA degrees, 7 graduate programs leading to MA and Ph.D. degrees and EMBA program for executive and high ranking management. The aim of SOM is to equip its students with basic training in fundamentals of business, analytical p-solving skills, and entrepreneurial leadership.
One of the uniqueness of SOM is its physical proximity to the Hsin Chu Science Park and thus it offers many special courses in high-tech management, including human resource management in high-tech industries and Bio-business management.
The greatest resource of SOM is its faculty members, who are distinguished by business experience and excellent academic credentials. SOM also has close relationship with universities in Mainland China and abroad and thus offers its students with the opportunities to be exposed to the international business world.
This Department, founded in 1984, has 17 full-time faculty members and offers BBA, MBA and PhD degrees. It endeavors to enhance students’ integral knowledge in business administration, and provides such courses as production and operation management, human resource management, marketing management, financial management, and information and technological management. In addition to regular course work, our MBA and PhD students are required to complete a dissertation/thesis and to publish journal papers, so that upon graduation they are equipped with objectively analytical capabilities, independent thinking skills, and excellent research abilities.
In support of the teaching and research needs of the faculty, the department provides a number of dedicated laboratories covering manufacturing systems simulation, marketing simulation, commerce automation and behavioral observations; these laboratories provide students with the necessary tools and technologies for success in the increasingly rapid-paced modern business world.
Through its provision of distinguished ERP education - aimed specifically at those students displaying an interest in this field, whilst also matching the development and resources of the ERP Center - this is the only business administration department in Taiwan providing both ERP research and education opportunities. This provides the necessary mechanism for college students to select a specialty from the five fields of management, whilst providing them with the necessary training for professional skills.

The Department of Economics encompasses undergraduate, master, and Ph.D. programs. The program in Economics provides students with a thorough foundation in economic analysis through the development of an understanding of the solid theoretical core of economic disciplines, and the application of fundamental concepts to the analysis of real world economic’ issues. It also designs courses aimed at improving students’ proficiency in foreign languages and broadening of their views on the global economy, so as to provide students with better career opportunities in Taiwan’s rapidly internationalized economic environment.
The Department is involved in exchange student programs with a number of renown foreign universities, providing students with a wide range of opportunities to interact with staff of many leading international institutions. Faculty/student interaction is also strongly encouraged through several channels, such as the regular ‘lunchbox’ meetings between small groups of students and their supervising tutors, workshops and seminars attracting many distinguished scholars in the past from other research institutions in Taiwan, and management practitioners discussing the intricacies of management in the ‘real world’ on an occasional basis.

The institute, founded in 1994, has five full-time and two part-time faculty members, offering both MBA and doctoral programs concentrated on four areas: manufacturing automation, supply chain management, quality control, and business process modeling. Classical examples include material handling and workflow in a factory, scheduling and dispatching, joint marketing and operation decisions in a supply chain, statistical process control and experimental design, business process reengineering, and so forth. More recently the field has been extended to include related areas as enterprise resource planning (ERP) and electronic commerce (EC).
Most of the faculty members are currently involved in ERP-related teaching and research works. For example, we offer SAP-based graduate courses on advanced planning and scheduling, material management, and sales and distribution. The future direction of the institute will be aimed towards a closer linking of ERP and EC related explorations.
